In Scotland, people who work with young people or vulnerable adults are required to register with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme through Disclosure Scotland.

All tutors operating through this platform have PVG Scheme membership.

Cancellation Policy

I completely understand that plans can change, and you might not be able to make your regular slot. If that’s the case, I’d be really grateful if you could let me know by 24 hours in advance at the latest. I’ll then either help you find an alternative slot, or offer you a full refund for the cancelled session.

Unfortunately, if you cancel your lesson with less than 24 hours’ notice, I will be unable to offer a refund or reschedule the class.

If I ever have to cancel a lesson for any reason, I will let you know as soon as possible and offer you an alternative date. If no suitable alternative date can be found, I will refund the cancelled session in full.

Teaching and Exam Preparation

Please note that, in line with most private tutoring, lessons provided through SJM Tutoring are designed to support but not replace teaching provided by your (or your child’s) school, college or university.

While every effort will be made to ensure success, tutees preparing for exams must note that private tuition alone cannot guarantee this, and successful exam performance requires significant independent study, and full engagement with school curricula and resources.

SJM Tutoring will always strive to make sure you meet your full potential, and offer as much support as possible, but cannot accept responsibility for worse performance than expected.

Statement of VAT Exemption

As a small business with a turnover below the legal threshold, and also as a provider of private language tutoring, SJM Tutoring is subject to exemption from VAT, and is therefore not VAT registered.
